Joseph C. Witherite, 71, of Hollidaysburg, formerly of Julian died November 11, 2018 at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home

Born August 26, 1947 in Bellefonte he was the son of the late Lester E. and Sarah K. (Addleman) Witherite.

Joe was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army from November 1966 thru September of 1968.

He was employed by the former Werner Limestone Corporation of Pleasant Gap and worked as a tree trimmer for the Asplundh Tree Expert Company when he resided in Pennsylvania. While living in North Carolina he was employed by Joyce Foods and the Baptist Retirement Home in the laundry department. He enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by two daughters, Misty Owens and Kayla Witherite (Jessi Gnan); three sisters, Edith Baker (Francis), Jean Turner and Judith Patishnock (Shane); one brother, Edward Witherite (Carol) and three grandchildren, Joey and Skylyte Owens and Nautica Gnan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by Donna Witherite.

Visitation will be from 1-2 PM Friday, November 16, 2018 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Centre County Memorial Park with military honors.
