Obituary of Joseph Salvanish, 74
Joseph A Salvanish, 74, of Clarence, lost his year long battle of complications of Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease (CJD) in the arms of his wife and soul mate of 54 years, on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg, where he received excellent care.
Born on August 1, 1937, in Clarence, he was the son of the late John & Catherine Schall Salvanish. On February 8, 1958, in Clarence, he married Constance J. “Connie” McGonigal who survives at home.
Joe attended the Clarence school. He was an electrician for J.H. France Refractory, retiring in 2000. He was a life member of the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Clarence and was steadfast in his faith. He was also a member of the Our Lady of the Mountains Knights of Columbus, council 12038.
Joe was a man with a generous heart and was always ready to help anyone in need. He loved the simple things in life, like fishing trips to Canada, windmills, country music, cooking, especially for his grandchildren, working in his yard and going out to eat with his wife. His favorite place to eat was KFC and would travel miles for a bucket of their chicken.
Joe loved his family, God, and his country. He was a man of many talents that could repair anything but unfortunately, he was unable to repair the disease that ravaged his brain. He fought a valiant fight and was very courageous in spite of all the odds against him. Now he is at peace with his Lord and Savior, and reunited with his precious daughter.
Joe is survived by his wife, his son; Brad J. Salvanish (Lori) of Clarence, and three grandchildren; Cody, Joseph, and Kaitlyn.
