Obituary of Margaret C Kormanec, 99


Margaret C. Skripek Kormanec, 99, of Moshannon, lost her 8-year batter with Dementia, and passed away peacefully on December 22, 2018 at her home. Born on September 28, 1919, in Moshannon, she was the daughter of the late John & Verna Karchmaric Skripek. In March 1946, she married Stephen D. Kormanec, Sr. He passed away February 1, 2003.

Margaret attended the Snow Shoe School. She was enlisted in the United States Army from October 13, 1943 until November 7, 1945. She earned the rank of PFC and was a Physics Lab Assistant. She was awarded the American Service Metal, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal for years of service.

Margaret enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and cooking. She was a cleaning phanatic. Her home was her pride and joy. She was a very determined person and a very driven person. She loved to dote over her grandchildren. She was member of the Queen of Archangels Parish Chapel in Snow Shoe and was very dedicated to her religion.

Margaret is survived by her son, whom she lived with, Stephen D. Kormanec, Jr and his wife, Cheryl, of Moshannon, one grandson, Darren Kormanec of Stormstown, granddaughter in law, Casandra Lamey of Snow Shoe.

Also surviving are her great grandchildren; Jordan, Haley, Kaitlyn, twins Hannah and Trevor, twins Brookelyn and Madelyn, and Annabelle, numerous nieces and nephews, two sister in-laws, Barbara Kormanec Pitman of Virginia, and Sister Mary Kormanec S.C. of Cincinnati OH. Finally, she is survived by her faithful canine companion, Samantha Rae “Sammy”. Sammy was with Margaret right up to the end.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her four brothers; John, Mike, George, and Steve, and six sisters; Catherine Skripek, Mary Krokoski, Verna Colucci, Anna Nagy, Agnes Long, and Sue Benton. Margaret was the last of her generation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mountaintop Pet Pantry. Monetary donations can be mailed to PO Box 59, Moshannon, PA 16859 and food donations can be dropped off at 174 Gorton Rd, Moshannon, PA 16859.
Viewing will be on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 11am – 1pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 1:30pm at the Queen of Archangels Parish Chapel in Snow Shoe with Father Michael Wolfe officiating. Burial with full military honors with follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Snow Shoe.

Special thanks to the Veterans Association for her continued care; to her daughter in-law, Cheryl, Aimee, Casandra, and Mary for the compassionate care throughout the past several years as well as the many various care givers having passed through mom’s life. To Omni Health Care, especially “Pam” who always came prepared with dog biscuits for Sammy and her other pets. To 365 Hospice: Joy, Natalie, Lacy, and Mary as well as all those behind the scenes. At this time, Mom would say: “Laugh, dance, and enjoy life to the fullest, even have a drink or two, as she did in her 99 years of life. Enough tears have been shed”.
