Obituary of Michael J. Ranio Jr., 72


Michael J. Ranio Jr.,72, of Bellefonte, passed away on Friday March 2, 2018 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center. He was Born in Bellefonte on September 24, 1945 a son of the late Michael and Isabelle Gettig Ranio.

Mike was a teacher for Keystone Central School District for 32 years and upon retirement went on to work for the Bellefonte Boro where he was an integral part of maintaining Talleyrand Park.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam conflict as well as the reserves for a total of 28 years.He was a member of the Bellefonte Elks and served at the Bellefonte Food Bank. Mike enjoyed the outdoors and particularly time spent at camp.

As a youngster he was proud to have been a member of the 1958 Bellefonte Little League State Championship team.

Surviving are his three sons, Edward ( Kristine), Jason ( Shannon), and Aaron ( Abigail) Ranio all of Bellefonte, and his six grandchildren, Shane,Tanisha,Olivia,Emma,Benjamin, and Quinn. He was preceded by a brother, Robert Ranio.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 10,2018 at noon at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes St., Bellefonte with Rev. Andrew Morgan officiating. Friends will be received for 1 hour prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Faith Center Food Bank, 135 S. Allegheny St. Bellefonte, or to the Centre County Library, 200 N. Allegheny St. Bellefonte.
