Obituary of Regina Faye Walker (Kirkland)

Regenia Faye Walker of Wingate, PA, passed away on June 3, 2020 after a long and valiant battle with cancer.

She was born in Buchanan, Tennessee to Francis and Leander “Jake” Kirkland as a New Year’s baby on January 1, 1937. On September 1, 1956 in Clarksville, TN she married the love of her life, Richard A. Walker who survives at home.

Regenia was a devoted wife and Mother as well as a fabulous cook. She worked at Hanover Foods in Old Fort, and later as a cafeteria worker at Wingate Elementary School. In more recent years she assisted her husband in his auctioneering business.

Each year Regenia took great pleasure in decorating her Christmas tree with Penn State pins and memorabilia. The Nittany Lions, both the football team and men’s and women’s basketball teams, were a great passion of hers, but she rooted for the Vols when they were playing! She enjoyed going to auctions, camping at the Grange Fair and traveling to her hometown of Paris, Tennessee each year in April and October to fish on Kentucky Lake and reminisce with family and friends at the World’s Biggest Fish Fry. She was a member of Bald Eagle Valley Community Church.

In addition to her husband of almost 64 years, she is survived by three daughters: Mary Ann (Paul) Clark of Mill Hall, PA, Melanie (Joseph) Simmons of Lyndhurst, VA, Marcy (Joseph R Urbanick Jr.) Walker of Howard, PA, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Martha J. (Preston) Oliver, and Mary F. (Arthur) Cannon.

The family would like to acknowledge all of the compassionate and caring staff who provided exceptional care to Regenia in her final months at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc. 201 Spring Street, Milesburg, PA 16853. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 4:00 P. M. to 6:00 P. M. at the funeral home with Pastor David A. Walker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Regenia had suggested that donations be made to Heather and Michael Conaway, a great nephew and his wife whose son Brandon was born with both Klippel Feil syndrome and Wiedemann-Steiner syndrome and has spent much of the last 16 years in the hospital battling these debilitating diseases. Donations can be made payable to Heather and Michael Conaway and sent to the funeral home, in Regenia’s memory. Or if you prefer, you may go to and search for Brandon Conaway Family of Julian, PA to donate so they will never fight alone.
