You can test your skiing skills at Tussey Mountain Ski Resort which offers several slopes of varying difficulty, or you can snowboard in their snowboarding park.

Skiers in State College are within 2 hours of various local resorts and within 3 hours of the Poconos, a large Eastern Pennsylvania ski area with 13 resorts. New York and New England skiing are also in close proximity.
