Account Representative & Sales 

Job Description: The Internet is no longer new media. It is THE media. And the region’s No. 1 website(s) for traffic, users, pageviews and number of paying advertisers is looking for a new account representative to join the StateCollege.com team. 


You will be responsible for selling StateCollege.com’s advertising and services to new prospects and existing clients to help all businesses find success online. You will contact area businesses in person, over the phone and online to generate leads and close sales.

Experienced PHP Developer

Job Description: We’re looking for an experienced PHP developer to join our growing team. We provide a fast-paced, dynamic, fun, yet demanding work environment for web application developer talent to grow professionally as well as personally. You will participate in, assist, and when necessary lead, in managing the definition, architecture, design, and implementation of applications and processes used within our portal solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain web applications and web services

  • Troubleshoot issues with web server, database, security; and network and web technologies

  • Write unit tests and collaborate with QA to develop test cases and useful load / functional tests

  • Write accurate, comprehensive and comprehensible system documentation from in-code comments to design documents and end-user documentation

  • Perform other duties that may be assigned

 

The successful applicant will possess the following requirements (items are required unless noted otherwise):

  • Thorough knowledge of PHP, and SQL (MySQL)

  • Thorough knowledge of CSS

  • Thorough understanding of HTTP, comfort with all layers of the LAMP

  • Stack especially with Linux Shell

  • Understanding of web standards and security

  • Must thrive in Agile Methodologies (TDD, Scrum) multi-tasking,

  • distributed environment and have a demonstrated ability to schedule

  • and meet deadlines as a strong team player

  • OOD Object Oriented Design experience

  • Experience with HTML5 and JavaScript

  • Experience with Responsive Design

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services is a plus

 

Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related Degree preferred 5+ years building internet applications in PHP/Python or the like and a CS or IST degree.

Must be a solid writer, preferably with prior reporting experience (Collegian, Onward State, WPSU, or elsewhere). Social media, video, and photography skills are desirable. Candidate should be a self-starter, capable of enterprising stories.

 

Basic writing skills for style, grammar, and sentence construction are required. You must be punctual and available to cover breaking news. You must have reliable transportation. This internship must be taken for college credit.

You’ll be working as a reporter covering Penn State and high school sports, from standard game recaps to more analytical pieces.

 

Must be a solid writer, preferably with prior reporting experience (Collegian, Onward State, WPSU, or elsewhere). Social media, video, and photography skills are desirable. Candidate should be a self-starter, capable of enterprising stories.

Gain valuable social media experience with semester-long with this internship with the area's leader in local news. Internships are part-time (20 hours per week) or full-time (40 hours per week). You’ll be working as a social media manager, working with a number of platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) for StateCollege.com, Onward State, Williamsport.com, and Altoona.com.

 

Must be a solid writer, preferably with prior experience working with social media on a professional level. Candidate should be a self-starter, capable of producing strong social media content on his or her own.

 

Basic writing skills for style, grammar, and sentence construction are required. This internship must be taken for college credit.

Internships are part-time (20 hours per week) or full-time (40 hours per week). You’ll be working as a photographer and videographer, covering events and producing pieces for our website.

 

Must have prior experience, preferably in a media/journalistic capacity with an ability to edit photos and cut/edit videos. Equipment (cameras, tripods, microphones, etc.) provided by us if needed.

 

You must have reliable transportation. This internship must be taken for college credit.
