Penn State Fitness Centers
Gyms for students in State College, PA
The cheapest and easiest option for most students is to purchase a fitness center membership through Penn State. Though the lines at the White Building can be long at times, they usually trail off further into the semester, and you can learn to plan your visits around the heavy crowds. There are other options on campus that a fitness membership allows you to use as well, such as the IM Building facilities and gym (smaller than the White Building, but similar equipment), Rec Hall, and the Natatorium fitness loft, which has ellipticals, Stairmasters, treadmills, and a few weight machines.
Downtown Fitness Centers
Downtown Fitness centers are an option as well, though you will spend more to belong. BodyWorks, East Coast Fitness, the YMCA, and others offer off-campus fitness options. Visit State College Health Clubs for more off-campus fitness options.
