Spring Break

Spring Break

Penn State's Spring Break arrives at the perfect time. With the excitement of THON fading into memories, the stress of midterms setting in, and the mostly miserable weather, students and faculty are ready for a change. For many, that means a change in location. Check out the video below to see where some students are headed.

What are the most popular escapes? StateCollege.com intern Sarah Daly conducted the following unofficial Twitter poll.

1. Cruise to different islands
2. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
3. Jamaica (Montego Bay and Negril)
4. Mexico
5. Bahamas
6. Las Vegas
7. Florida (Daytona Beach and Panama City Beach)

Here are some ideas for day trips during Spring Break:

Stuck in central Pennsylvania or at your parent's house while everybody else is partying on cruise ships or exploring foreign cities? Whether you're looking for a State College "stay-cation" or an excuse for a day trip, the list below will you give you some options. Spring Break begins this weekend and classes will resume on Monday the 14th.

Winter Water Parks
You read that right; we're talking water slides, hot tubs, the works INSIDE! Check out Lake Harmony, The Great Wolf Lodge (Poconos) and Splash Lagoon (Erie).

Giant Burgers

Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield makes burgers that weigh everywhere from two to 100 pounds! Take the Pub Challenger (eating the two-pound burger in an hour) or the Pub Super Challenger (three pounds in 90 minutes).

Fallingwater

Master architect Frank Lloyd Wright's most famous building is located in Mill Run, not far from Pittsburgh. Smithsonian Magazine called it one of 28 places to see before it's too late.

St. Patty's in Scranton

There "ain't no party like a Scranton party," and the St. Patrick's Day parade is no exception. One of the largest of its kind in the nation, the Scranton parade gets the whole city's attention and brings in visitors from near and far.

Go Directly To Jail

Check out Philadelphia's Eastern State Penitentiary and see how bad prisoners like Slick Willie and Al Capone had it (actually, as you'll learn, Al Capone lived in a luxurious cell, compared to everyone else).
