Allen Iverson at Penn State Football Games? The Answer Could Be in New Receivers Coach Marques Hagans

Penn State football has picked up an unexpected connection with Sixers’ star and NBA All-Time great Allen Iverson after the Nittany Lions recently hired new receivers coach Marques Hagans.

“AI is someone who who I grew up around,” Hagans said during his introductory press conference on Tuesday. “He’s a few years older than me. We all played for the same rec league team and started off at the same high school. He’s become a big brother to me and my kids look up to him. He’s always around them, always checking in on them. So to have someone like that – one of the best players to play professional basketball be from your neighborhood and you know, to be a big supporter of mine. That means a lot. So I would say he’s a really close friend. He’s like a big brother. And he does a really good job being the uncle to my two boys as well.”

The duo started out together at Bethel High School before Hagans transferred to Hampton later in his high school career. Iverson would go on to play at Georgetown at the collegiate level before eventually landing in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers. Hagans play football for the University of Virginia after a year at the Virginia based Fork Union Military Academy, the same academy that former Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg would later play for.

Does this mean Penn State fans could end up seeing Allen Iverson dressed for a white out? Time will tell, but where there is a question, there is often an answer.
