STATE COLLEGE — Just a few table spots are available for Global Connections’ “Passport on a Plate: Home Edition.”

The event — in which GC volunteers invite guests into their home and serve them a home-cooked, authentic international meal — is a fundraiser to support and promote intercultural sharing and understanding and foster a welcoming and inclusive community through service, education, advocacy and partnerships.

This is a rare opportunity to share a meal and listen to stories from different cultures in an intimate setting.

Community members may choose from a series of dinners created and offered by hosts and their guest chefs. One night, they may be tasting sweet-and-sour pork at a “Happy Hong Kong Extravaganza,” while the next they are enjoying tiramisu at “An Evening in Italy.”

For more information, contact Alexis Schad at (814) 867-2531 or axs2399@psu.edu.

The dinner schedule is available at www.gc-cc.org/support.

Centre County is home to many diverse cultures. Enjoying authentic foreign cuisines is one of the most enjoyable ways to learn about and connect with those from different cultural backgrounds. Since 2008, Global Connections has raised funds and help forge such connections through Passport on a Plate: Home Edition. This dinner series offers a safe and welcoming space for local international community members to share their cuisines, traditions and stories.

Global Connections is a nonprofit, community-based organization affiliated with United Way of Centre County and Penn State University.
