4 People Taken to Hospital After Crash in Ferguson Township

One person was flown from the scene by medical helicopter and three others were taken to the hospital by ambulance after a crash on Wednesday night in Ferguson Township.

Two passenger vehicles collided at about 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of West Whitehall and South Nixon roads, Ferguson Township Police Chief John Petrick said.

The driver of one vehicle was entrapped and had to be extricated by Alpha Fire Company. That driver was flown to UPMC Altoona for treatment. Centre LifeLink EMS took the driver of the other vehicle and two passengers to Mount Nittany Medical Center.

None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening, Petrick said.

He added that the intersection is controlled by a stop sign and the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

The intersection was closed for an extended period of time for patient extrication and investigation of the scene.
