Centre Foundation’s Giving Circle members are currently accepting proposals from nonprofit organizations to receive a $10,000 grant.

The deadline to submit a proposal is 5 p.m. on June 23.

“Organizations with a new idea, program, or project have been historically popular with the Giving Circle members,” Centre Foundation Executive Director Molly Kunkel said in a release. “Members like to see tangible impact projects completed in the near-term, especially projects that will serve some of the more vulnerable populations in Centre County.”

After the grant proposals are received Giving Circle members will narrow the list to their top three organizations. The final three will make presentations at a reception on Aug. 30 at Above the Valley. Each finalist will be guaranteed a grant, with member voting that night to determine which organization receives the $10,000 grant.

The Giving Circle was established in 2006 to commemorate Centre Foundation’s 25th anniversary. Since then, members have pooled resources to award $109,000 in grants to Centre County organizations. Giving Circle membership is based on an annual membership donation from $125 to $500 according to age.

Giving Circle grants have previously been awarded to organizations including Interfaith Human Services, Centre Volunteers in Medicine, House of Care, Discovery Space, Housing Transitions, Strawberry Fields and Centre Helps (formerly the Community Help Centre). The grants have funded financial care programs, women’s reproductive health programs, a preschool remodeling and removal of asbestos, a new roof and many other projects.
