Last season marked the first for Northern Cambria’s volleyball program. It also marked the Colts’ first District 6 Class AA title, the Altoona Mirror reported.

‘Our athleticism and competitiveness are two of our strong points,’ NC coach Mike Hogan said. ‘We have several players that have worked hard on their game in the offseason. Several of our players have been in big games and understand what it takes to win at home, on the road and in the playoffs.’

‘This team lacks the overall team big-game experience,’ Saboe said. ‘We have a few members who have the experience of playing in the big games on whose shoulders we will depend to help guide the team early in the season.’

Mike Sellers begins his first year as coach for Huntingdon, a team that went 6-9 last year.

‘Only two returning lettermen and 13 players on the roster leave us very inexperienced this season,’ Sellers said.

Both Central and Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic will look to turn around after also going below .500 in the 2011 season.
