With our community facing numerous challenges because of the coronavirus pandemic, we are inviting any Centre County business, nonprofit organization or agency to share their stories in briefs which we will publish at no charge here on StateCollege.com. Share what you’d like the community to know — what services you’re offering, challenges your facing, what you’ve brought to the area over the years or anything else. More details here.
In order to accept book donations for a 2021 AAUW State College Used Book sale, AAUW State College needed a way to offset operating costs associated with its workshop, where books are gathered, processed and stored between May sales. This has been accomplished by selling most of the books for the 2020 sale (cancelled by the pandemic) to Midtown Scholars Book Store in Harrisburg.
Thousands of other books that came in after the Midtown purchase are available for donation to Centre County nonprofit groups. Categories include art, biography, cookbooks, many categories of textbooks, fiction, mysteries and more.
Interest groups may apply for books by writing a few sentences on books sought, what amount and how they would be used, and sending it to connieschoeder@gmail.com no later than June 30.
Due to availability, not all requests will be able to be met. Book pickups will be at the AAUW State College Used Book Workshop, 176 Technology Drive, Boalsburg on Saturday, July 25, 9 a.m. – noon.
The AAUW State College will reopen for book donation on Saturday, Aug. 1, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at their workshop. Updates can be found at www.aauwstatecollege.org and on the AAUW-State College Facebook page.
