Ag Progress Days, Pennsylvania’s largest outdoor agricultural exposition, will be held Tuesday through Thursday in Pennsylvania Furnace, and Ferguson Township Police are reminding residents and drivers of heavy traffic and traffic pattern changes.
‘West College Avenue (SR26), Pine Grove Road (SR45) and West Whitehall Road will be extremely congested, especially during rush hours,’ police said in a release. ‘Motorists are asked to expect delays and allow extra time for commuting. Using alternate routes is suggested.’
Nixon Road will be closed between West Whitehall Road and Pine Grove Road from 3 to 7 p.m. each day. Local residents only will be able to access Nixon Road from Whitehall Road.
Access to the Pine Grove Mills Post Office will be limited to eastbound traffic from 3 to 7 p.m. each day.
During evening rush hour, westbound traffic on West College Avenue/East Pine Grove Road will split into two lanes. Left lane traffic will only be able to turn left onto Route 26 over Pine Grove Mountain and right lane traffic will be directed through Route 45 toward Ag Progress Days.
Police said extra personnel will be on duty to manage traffic congestion, but that delays are still inevitable. Drivers should allow extra time for travel, or if possible avoid the area.
‘Police also remind motorists to be aware of police officers on the roadways directing traffic,’ a release said. ‘They are there to keep traffic moving and cannot answer questions while on the roads. Please keep our officers safe by being attentive, slowing down, and not stopping to ask traffic questions.’
Ag Progress Days hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center in Pennsylvania Furnace
