Prepare for an audible sigh.

The State College area is expected to see 3 to 6 inches of snow overnight Monday into Tuesday, according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Tom Kines.

“There will be enough to shovel again,” Kines says.

Snow will start around midnight and is expected to end by mid-morning. Kines says the State College area may not see more than 4-inches; however, the trend this winter seems to be on the higher end of accumulation.

“Every storm seems to be an overachiever,” Kines says.

Low temperatures Monday night will be about 20. The high for Tuesday will be in the mid-30s with the sun making an appearance in the afternoon.

Later in the week, temperatures are expected to reach the 40s. However, Kines says the break in below-freezing temperatures is not a sign of early spring and won’t last.

“It’s going to get cold again, so enjoy it while it lasts,” he says.

Temperatures reaching above freezing in the daytime will cause some melting that will freeze overnight creating hazards for icy sidewalks and parking lots.
