Drivers will encounter traffic restrictions starting next week in downtown State College as contractors remove a tower cranes from an East College Avenue construction site.

Removal of the cranes from the site of The Rise, 532 E. College Ave., will require lane closures and a detour between April 9-18, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The left lane of High Street between East Beaver Avenue and East College Avenue will be closed and left turns from High Street onto College Avenue will be prohibited. Traffic will be detoured using Route 26/East College Avenue and University Drive. Drivers familiar with the area may wish to use alternate routes.

On East College Avenue, the left lane will be closed between High Street and Hetzel Street. During times when the lift is being maneuvered over travel lanes, traffic will be stopped for one to two minutes for the safety of motorists traveling through the area.

Message boards and detour signage will be in place
