Centre County stayed on trend with 2008 and went to President Barack Obama on Nov. 6, his win sealed by provisional ballots.

On Election Day, Centre County was called for Mitt Romney, who was believed to be the winner by a margin of only 20 points.

Obama won Pennsylvania, garnering the state’s 20 electoral votes. He was declared winner around 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 6, as various media outlets announced his second term as the swing state Ohio appeared it was going to the president.

With provisional ballots counted in Centre County, the Centre County Democrats announced Obama won Pa. by 151 votes. The Pa. Department of State released the updated totals on Thursday. Obama received 34,115 votes and Governor Romney received 33,964 votes.

Centre County listed its updated, unofficial election results which showed Obama winning 34,176 to Romney’s 34,001.

‘This is great news for all of our volunteers. We are very happy to see Centre County in the win column for President Obama just like it was in 2008’ said Greg Stewart, Chair of the Centre County Democrats.
