Ferguson Township Police said Wednesday that one suspect has been arrested and another identified in a January armed robbery.

Police are still working to confirm the identity of a third suspect in the Jan. 16 robbery of Uni-Mart, 750 W. Aaron Dr.

Jimmy L. Carter, 53, of Erie, was arrested on Feb. 10 by the Erie City Police Department acting on a warrant from Ferguson Township. Carter is charged with robbery, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and recklessly endangering another person.

Police say that at the time of his arrest in Erie, Carter was in possession of a handgun and was charged with possession of a firearm prohibited and firearms not to be carried without a license. He is being held at Erie County Prison on $25,000 bail and will be brought to Centre County for arraignment at a later date, according to a release from Ferguson Township Police.

An arrest warrant also has been obtained for Ted R. Johnson, 35, of Erie, who is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. He is not in custody at this time. Police allege that Johnson was acting as a lookout.

At about 7:50 p.m. on Jan. 16, three men reportedly entered the store with two of the suspects displaying firearms. Police say one of the suspects struggled with and fired a shot toward a store employee. The second suspect also allegedly fired a shot. In both cases the bullets struck a wall and no one was injured. After allegedly taking cash, the men fled the store on foot in the direction of Best Buy, 1650 N. Atherton St.
