Trent Buttrick has officially signed his National Letter of Intent and will join Penn State basketball for the 2017 season the program announced on Wednesday.

Buttrick had verbally committed to the Nittany Lions back in February so Wednesday’s news was an expected eventuality. At 6-foot-8 and 220 pounds the power forward out of Naples, Florida is originally from Bloomsburgh, PA.

As of this week Buttrick is still the only incoming player for the 2017 class, although following the departure of Isaiah Washington, Terrence Samuel and Payton Banks, it’s unclear if coach Patrick Chambers will look to the transfer market to round out the roster or find few more last minute commitments.

‘Trent is a great addition to our program in that he brings toughness, skill and a high basketball IQ,’ Chambers said in a release. ‘We are happy he chose to return to his home state of Pennsylvania to become a Nittany Lion.’
