Penn State’s narrow victory over Appalachian State resulted in a small slide down the rankings as both the AP and Coaches polls were released on Tuesday afternoon.
In the Coaches Poll the Nittany Lions fell one spot from No.9 to No.10. For the AP, it was a slightly larger, but similar fall as Penn State came in at No.13 after opening the year at No.10
Across the Big Ten both Ohio State and Wisconsin stayed in the Top 5 with the Buckeyes flipping spots with the Badgers to come in at No.4 while Wisconsin sits at No.5 in the latest AP Poll.
Michigan fell from No.14 in the AP Poll to No.21. Michigan State’s own close victory over Utah State saw the Spartans slide from No.11 to No.15.
All told the rankings are less important this early in the season. Penn State and every team in the nation will have ample opportunity to prove their worth in the coming weeks and months.
Penn State opened a 10.5 point favorite over Pitt for this weekend’s game which is schedule to kick at 8PM on ABC.
