Penn State fans might be a little tired of the up and down emotions of a 6-6 season but that hasn’t slowed down ticket sales for the Nittany Lions’ first bowl game in almost three years.
As a matter of fact, according to a university news release, all Penn State tickets given to the athletic department by the Pinstripe Bowl sold out before a public sale ever even happened.
Penn State says priority Nittany Lion Club and Alumni Association members purchased all 7,692 of the allotted tickets and in turn erased the need for a public sale. Nittany Lion Club and Alumni Association members who have requested tickets through Account Manager or 1-800-NITTANY will be notified about whether or not they will receive tickets on Wednesday evening.
There’s still hope for people who didn’t get a ticket. Yankee Stadium holds over 54,000 for football games. While you might not be able to get tickets through Penn State, certified travel packages and the Pinstripe Bowl itself will still be selling.
Student tickets for the Pinstripe Bowl will be available in a walk-up sale at the Bryce Jordan Center ticket office on Saturday, Dec. 13 starting at 9 a.m. Student tickets will cost $55 each and the student sale will run on Saturday until either the supply is exhausted or noon, whichever comes first.
If student tickets remain after Saturday’s sale, any remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the Athletic Ticket Office beginning Monday, Dec. 15 through Friday, Dec. 17 from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. ET.
There will be a two (2) ticket limit per student ID and tickets can be purchased with cash or a credit card. Information on the New Era Pinstripe Bowl and all related events can be found on the bowl’s website: www.pinstripebowl.com.
In 2013, the Pinstripe Bowl’s fourth year in existence, the crowd set an attendance record with 47,122 fans at Yankee Stadium. If tickets continue to sell like they have in the first two days Penn State and Boston College might just surpass that mark with ease.
