Call it the great peddle puzzler. Acting on a tip, police were startled to find a hidden cache of bicyles stashed in a Ferguson Township basement.
And it’s not just one or two. It sounds like there are enough bikes to open up a cycle shop. Ferguson Township Police Sergeant Robert Glenny says officers recovered, “in excess of 50,60,70 (bicycles), somewhere in that area. It’s a pile of bicycles.”
They believe at least some of the bicycles are stolen.
Investigators have put out the call, asking area residents to contact them about bikes that may have been lost or stolen over the past five years. They hope that people who’ve lost bicycles can help them figure out which ones may have been stolen.
No one has been arrested and the investigation is just getting underway so police aren’t releasing details.
The bicycles include name brands, such as Trek, Schwinn, Cannondale, Specialized, Diamondback, Jamis, and others.
