It’s on to the Eagleton 8 for Schlow Centre Region Library as it looks to win the the Leslie B. Knope Award as the nation’s best public library.
Once again, you can vote for Schlow and help it advance to the final four.
Engaging Local Government Leaders, a professional organization for municipal leaders around the country, is running a tournament-style bracket to pick the winner of the award, named in honor of Amy Poehler’s character from the comedy series ‘Parks and Recreation.’
The ‘Eagleton 8’ draws its name from the rival town to Knope’s home of Pawnee, Ind., on the show.
Schlow was initially among more than 100 nominees for the award and made the cut of 32 finalists. After besting Bennett Civic Center Library in Livonia, Mich. in the first round, Schlow ousted Iowa City Public Library in the Sweetums 16.
Now the Centre Region library faces off against Pueblo (Colo.) City-County Library for a chance to move on to the semifinals. This week there are two ways to cast a vote.
Individuals can cast one vote online here. You can cast a second vote by Tweeting a selfie taken in the library with the hashtag #SelfieInTheStacks and Schlow’s name. Each voter can cast one vote and submit one selfie this week to contribute to the total.
Voting takes place weekly with the new round opening each Monday until the champion is crowned by voting the week of Feb. 26 to March 2.
