Severe Thunderstorm Warning Posted for State College Area, Some Damage Reported

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for a swath of central Pennsylvania, including Centre County. The warning will remain in effect until 7:30 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for all of central Pennsylvania.

There are reports of powerful winds sweeping through parts of State College — bringing down trees in the College Heights area.

At 6:30 p.m. doppler radar showed a line of severe thunderstorms extending from Snow Shoe to Pleasant Gap. The storms are moving northeast at 55 mph. These storms are capable of producing powerful winds up to 80 mph.

Be careful driving in heavy rain and stay away from any flooding.
