It’s time to hit the slopes at Tussey Mountain.
The Boalsburg ski and recreation area will open for skiing and snowboarding for the first time this season on Saturday, according to a post on Tussey Mountain’s Facebook page.
The Utah trail will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday to start the season, according to Tussey Mountain. Snowtubing is not yet open, with a start date to be announced soon.
“We will provide updates soon on weekday and upcoming holiday hours, snowmaking progress and terrain park builds,” the post stated. “So stay tuned but in the meantime we will see you this weekend!”
Lessons will be available both days, with lineup for group snowboarder and skier sessions at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Private lessons will also be offered on the hour.
Lift tickets, rentals and lessons can be purchased online. Those who have RFID cards from last season can buy tickets online or at the ticket office and they will automatically be loaded onto their cards. Those who do not already have an account in the Tussey Mountain system will need to create one.
The recent cold snap was good news for snowmaking. Last season, with milder temperatures early on and the first significant snowfall not coming until after New Year’s Day, Tussey opened for skiing and snowboarding on Jan. 6.
