After months of delay and debate, three former Penn State administrators, Graham Spanier, Tim Curley, and Gary Schultz, will finally appear at a preliminary hearing.

Those men emerged as central figures in the Jerry Sandusky scandal — accused of concealing reports about Jerry Sandusky’s child sex abuse. The trio will be in a Harrisburg courtroom Monday morning, months after their original court date.

Former university president Graham Spanier, former athletic director Tim Curley and retired senior vice president for finance and business Gary Schultz were originally going be in court in December, but it was postponed after the counsel for the defendants filed to have the charges dropped. The hearing begins at 9 a.m. today at the Dauphin County Courthouse and will continue July 30 and Aug. 1 if necessary.

Curley and Schultz were charged with perjury and failure to report shortly after Sandusky was indicted on November 4, 2011. Spanier was charged on November 1, 2012 of the same crimes, and all three men were also charged with endangering the welfare of children, criminal conspiracy and obstruction of justice in regards to the Sandusky sexual abuse scandal.

Spanier, Schultz and Curley continue to maintain their innocence.

It has been a long legal process that has taken many turns for those involved. Sandusky was eventually tried on 48 counts of sexual abuse and was found guilty on 45 counts after his June 2012 trial. He was sentenced to 30-60 years in prison.
