Penn State alumni can now cast their ballots in the university’s board of trustees election.
Voting opened Thursday to fill three seats on the board. The three open seats are currently held by board members Jesse Arnelle, Marianne Alexander and Joel Myers. Myers is the only candidate seeking another term.
Alumni can select from 31 candidates on the ballot. Initially, there were 32 candidates, however, longtime board member Arnelle withdrew from the race.
Winners will be announced May 9.
The university automatically sends ballots to graduates who have a valid email address on file with the university’s alumni records.
Graduates who have requested a ballot over the last two elections will automatically receive a ballot.

The 32-member board includes five trustees who serve in an ex officio capacity – university president, Pennsylvania governor, and state secretaries of agriculture, education and conservation and natural resources.
The alumni elect nine members. The governor appoints six members. Organized agriculture societies elect six members. The board elects six members from business and industry sectors.
