William L. Welch Community Swimming Pool will celebrate its grand reopening — and the start of its 51st summer — starting at 11:30 a.m. May 28, Centre Region Parks and Recreation announced Thursday.
The just-reconstructed public pool, at 670 Westerly Parkway in State College, will host a rededication ceremony and a ‘first splash’ countdown at that hour. Admission to the Welch pool and its counterpart, the Park Forest Community Swimming Pool, 2100 School Drive, will be free that day from noon until 8 p.m. (Park Forest pool will open for the season on May 28, as well.)
Both pools also will host a week of ‘Dollar Days’ from May 29 through June 4. Admission at the facilities will be $1 apiece that week, according to a news release.
Additional information is available through Centre Region Parks and Recreation, which can be reached online and by phone: (814) 231-3071.
