Penn State took another loss, but this time it came off the gridiron.

Four-star class of 2027 wide receiver Khalil Taylor has decommitted from the Nittany Lions, per a report by On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Friday morning.

Penn State’s class is now down to just three members, five-star running back Kemon Spell, five-star offensive tackle Layton Von Brandt and four-star cornerback Gabe Jenkins. The group took a tumble from No. 2 nationally to No. 10, per the 247Sports composite rankings.

Taylor, a Pittsburgh native, had been committed since March 29. Since his pledge he has received offers from Notre Dame and Florida State. Taylor was on campus as recently as Aug. 30 for Penn State’s season-opening win over Nevada.

The move marks a major loss for the Nittany Lions, as Taylor would’ve been one of the highest-ranked wide receivers to ever play in blue and white. It’s unclear exactly what went into the decision, but it’s possible Penn State’s two recent losses or lack of usage from young wide receivers across the past two seasons made an impact.
