Centre County Adds 102 COVID-19 Cases Over 2 Days; Pennsylvania Reports 6,450
Centre County reported 102 new COVID-19 cases over the past two days — 71 on Sunday and 31 on Monday — to bring its total to 15,317, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Pennsylvania added 6,450 cases — 3,362 on Sunday and 3,088 on Monday — for a statewide total to 1,075,424.
The county also had 177 additional negative test results over the two days, increasing its total to 66,100. Across Pennsylvania, there were 12,680 new negatives for a total of 4,232,867.
According to the health department’s hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 27 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, two fewer than on Saturday. Five are in intensive care and two are on ventilators.
Across Pennsylvania 2,474 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized [an increase of 33 since Saturday], including 534 in intensive care [+23] and 250 on ventilators [-10].
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 213 for the 37th consecutive day.
With four new deaths reported statewide — three on Sunday and one on Monday — Pennsylvania’s total is 25,406.
Nursing and personal care homes in Centre County reported one new case among employee. One resident case also was removed from the DOH tally. A total of 18 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 725 resident cases, 155 employee cases and 163 resident deaths.
An estimated 90% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.
Among Pennsylvania’s cases, 912,708 are confirmed and 162,716 are probable. In Centre County, 13,978 are confirmed and 1,339 are probable.
