Centre County Adds 11 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 1,643 New Positives

Centre County reported 11 new COVID-19 cases on Friday to bring its total to 16,666, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 1,643 positives for a statewide total of 1,182,922.

The county also also had 109 additional negative test results to increase its total to 69,013. Across Pennsylvania, there were 9,326 new negatives for a total of 4,501,828.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 10 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, six fewer than on Thursday. None are in intensive care or on ventilators.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,605 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 47 since Thursday, with 373 patients in intensive care [-17] and 237 on ventilators [-3].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 221.

With 27 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 26,724.

An estimated 91% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Friday morning, 60,748 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 16,591 are partially covered.

Among Centre County’s cases, 15,193 are confirmed and 1,473 are probable. Statewide, 993,915 are confirmed and 189,007 are probable.
