Centre County Adds 13 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 2,210 New Positives
Centre County reported 13 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday to bring its total to 16,679, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Pennsylvania added 2,210 positives for a statewide total of 1,185,132.
The county also also had 51 additional negative test results to increase its total to 69,064. Across Pennsylvania, there were 7,779 new negatives for a total of 4,509,607.
Centre County’s positivity rate declined for the sixth straight week. For the week of May 7-13, the county’s PCR testing positivity rate was 5.6%, down from 7.1% the previous seven days, according to the updated DOH early warning monitoring dashboard. Pennsylvania’s statewide positivity rate was 5.3%, down from 6.6% the previous week and marking a decline for the fourth consecutive week.
According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, nine COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, one fewer than on Friday. None are in intensive care or on ventilators.
Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,573 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 32 since Friday, with 357 patients in intensive care [-16] and 231 on ventilators [-6].
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 221.
With 25 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 26,749.
An estimated 92% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.
As of Saturday morning, 61,400 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 16,980 are partially covered.
Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov. The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center offers vaccines to individuals 18 and older by appointment or walk-in.
Among Centre County’s cases, 15,201 are confirmed and 1,478 are probable. Statewide, 995,469 are confirmed and 189,663 are probable.
