Centre County Adds 15 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 1,088 New Positives

Centre County reported 15 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to increase its total to 17,045, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. It was the county’s largest single-day increase in new cases since May 25.

Pennsylvania added 1,088 positives — the commonwealth’s highest increase since May 26 — for a statewide total of 1,223,390.

The county also reported 70 negative test results to bring its total to 72,613. Statewide, there were 6,197 new negatives for a total of 4,900,572.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, 11 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, one more than on Wednesday. None are in intensive care or on ventilators.

Statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to increase. Pennsylvania has 462 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 17 since Wednesday, with 87 in intensive care [-8] and 50 on ventilators [+4].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 228.

With four new COVID-19 deaths statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,842.

As of Thursday morning, 77,574 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 5,511 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
