Centre County Adds 17 COVID-19 Cases over 2 Days; Pennsylvania Reports 2,399 New Positives

Centre County reported 17 new COVID-19 cases over the past two days— nine on Sunday and eight on Monday — to bring its total to 16,586, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Monday’s total is the lowest single-day increase for the county since March 9.

Pennsylvania added 2,399 positives over the two days — 1,376 on Sunday and 1,023 on Monday — for a statewide total of 1,174,687. Monday marked the state’s lowest single-day increase in new cases since Oct. 5.

The county also also had 100 additional negative test results to increase its total to 68,677. Across Pennsylvania, there were 9,929 new negatives for a total of 4,467,488.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 18 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, an increase of two since Saturday. One is in intensive care and none are ventilators.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,798 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 126 since Saturday, with 406 patients in intensive care [-21] and 241 on ventilators [-1].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 220 for the 12th consecutive day.

With 18 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide — 11 on Sunday and seven on Monday — Pennsylvania’s total is now 26,550.

An estimated 90% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Monday morning, 57,098 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 18,642 are partially covered.

Among Centre County’s cases, 15,123 are confirmed and 1,463 are probable. Statewide, 987,749 are confirmed and 186,938 are probable.
