Centre County Adds 2 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 380 New Positives

Centre County reported two new COVID-19 cases on Friday to bring its total to 16,888, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. It is the county’s 17th consecutive day with fewer than 10 new positives.

Pennsylvania added 380 positives, marking the 14th consecutive day with fewer than 1,000 new cases and bringing the statewide total to 1,207,875.

The county reported 86 additional negative test results, bringing its total to 70,053. Statewide, there were 6,021 new negatives for a total of 4,665,322.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, seven COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, two fewer than on Thursday. One is in intensive care and on a ventilator.

Statewide, COVID-19 hospitalizations dropped below 600 for the first time since Oct. 5. Pennsylvania has 597 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 33 since Thursday, with 168 in intensive care [+9] and 102 on ventilators [-8].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 224.

With 19 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,457.

An estimated 96% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.

As of Friday morning, 72,791 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 11,329 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.

The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center, which offers vaccinations for ages 18 and older, will be open daily through June 14 for walk-ins only.
