Centre County Adds 27 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 2,476 New Positives

Centre County reported 27 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to bring its total to 16,499, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 2,476 positives for a statewide total of 1,166,692.

The county also also had 74 additional negative test results to increase its total to 68,379. Across Pennsylvania, there were 9,124 new negatives for a total of 4,438,842.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 17 COVID-19 inpatients, two fewer than on Wednesday. The patients range in age from 48 to 93, a hospital spokesperson said. According to DOH’s hospital preparedness dashboard, no COVID-19 patients in Centre County are in intensive care or on a ventilator.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 2,047 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 84 since Wednesday, with 448 patients in intensive care [-19] and 235 on ventilators [-23].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 220 for the eighth consecutive day.

With 57 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 26,447.

An estimated 90% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Thursday morning, 53,609 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 19,637 are partially covered.

Among Centre County’s cases, 15,046 are confirmed and 1,453 are probable. Statewide, 981,441 are confirmed and 185,251 are probable.
