Centre County Adds 28 COVID-19 Cases, 1 Death; Pennsylvania Reports 2,028 New Positives

Centre County reported 28 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to bring its total to 16,655, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 2,028 positives for a statewide total of 1,181,279.

The county also also had 97 additional negative test results to increase its total to 68,904. Across Pennsylvania, there were 8,552 new negatives for a total of 4,492,502.

DOH reported one new death attributed to the virus among Centre County residents. Since the start of the pandemic, the county has had 221 COVID-19 deaths.

With 38 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 26,697.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 16 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, unchanged from Wednesday. None are in intensive care or on ventilators.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,652 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 60 since Wednesday, with 390 patients in intensive care [-7] and 240 on ventilators [+9].

An estimated 91% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Thursday morning, 59,130 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 17,299 are partially covered.

Among Centre County’s cases, 15,179 are confirmed and 1,476 are probable. Statewide, 992,564 are confirmed and 188,715 are probable.
