Centre County Adds 3 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 170 New Positives

Centre County reported three new COVID-19 cases on Monday to bring its total 16,894, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

It is the county’s 20th consecutive day with fewer than 10 new cases.

Pennsylvania added 170 new positives, the lowest increase since March 23, 2020, when there were 165. The new cases bring Pennsylvania’s total to 1,208,683.

The county reported 33 additional negative test results, bringing its total to 70,212. Statewide, there were 2,942 new negatives for a total of 4,678,670.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating five COVID-19 patients between the ages of 30 and 87, a decrease of two since the hospital’s last update on Friday.

Pennsylvania has 512 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 14 since Sunday, with 130 in intensive care and 83 on ventilators.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 224.

With two new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,490.

An estimated 96% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.

As of Monday morning, 73,133 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 11,248 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.

The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center, which offers vaccinations for ages 18 and older, will be open through 8 p.m. Monday for walk-ins only.
