Centre County Adds 3 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 412 New Positives
Centre County reported three new COVID-19 cases on Saturday to bring its total to 16,891, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Pennsylvania added 412 positives, marking the 15th consecutive day with fewer than 1,000 new cases and bringing the statewide total to 1,208,287.
The county reported 61 additional negative test results, bringing its total to 70,114. Statewide, there were 5,809 new negatives for a total of 4,671,131.
Centre County’s positivity rate continued to fall last week. For the week of June 4-10, the county’s PCR testing positivity rate was 1.6%, down from 1.8% the previous seven days, according to the updated DOH early warning monitoring dashboard.
It was tied for 18th lowest among Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.
The statewide positivity rate was 1.9%, down from 2.8% the previous seven days and marking a decline for the eighth consecutive week.
According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, seven COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, unchanged from Friday. One is in intensive care and on a ventilator.
Pennsylvania has 572 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 25 since Friday, with 158 in intensive care [-10] and 105 on ventilators [+3].
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 224 for the 17th consecutive day.
With 17 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,474.
An estimated 96% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.
As of Saturday morning, 72,990 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 11,269 are partially covered.
Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center, which offers vaccinations for ages 18 and older, will be open through Monday for walk-ins only.
