Centre County Adds 3 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 556 New Positives

Centre County reported three new COVID-19 cases on Monday to increase its total to 17,013, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 556 positives, bringing the statewide total to 1,220,671. It was the seventh consecutive day the commonwealth has registered more than 500 new cases.

The county also reported 22 negative test results to bring its total to 72,412. Statewide, there were 3,523 new negatives for a total of 4,883,643.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, eight COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, with none in intensive care or on ventilators — all unchanged from Sunday.

A statewide uptick in COVID-19 hospitalizations continued on Monday. Pennsylvania has 404 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 36 since Sunday, with 86 in intensive care [+3] and 47 on ventilators [+10].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus statewide. Centre County’s total remained at 228, while Pennsylvania’s stayed at 27,827.

An estimated 97% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.

As of Monday morning, 77,332 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 5,378 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
