Centre County Adds 45 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 2,610 New Positives

Centre County reported 45 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday to bring its total to 16,569, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 2,610 positives for a statewide total of 1,172,288.

The county also also had 75 additional negative test results to increase its total to 68,577. Across Pennsylvania, there were 7,906 new negatives for a total of 4,457,559.

Centre County’s positivity rate declined for the fifth straight week. For the week of April 30-May 6, the county’s PCR testing positivity rate was 6.8%, down from 7% the previous seven days, according to the updated DOH early warning monitoring dashboard. Pennsylvania’s statewide positivity rate was 6.6%, down from 7.6% the previous week and marking a decline for the third consecutive week.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 16 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County with none in intensive care or on ventilators, which is unchanged from Friday.

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,924 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 88 since Friday, with 427 patients in intensive care [-9] and 242 on ventilators [+5].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 220 for the 10th consecutive day.

With 38 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 26,532.

An estimated 90% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

As of Saturday morning, 56,510 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 18,777 are partially covered.

Among Centre County’s cases, 15,107 are confirmed and 1,462 are probable. Statewide, 985,719 are confirmed and 186,569 are probable.
