Centre County Adds 5 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 273 New Positives

Centre County reported five new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday to increase its total to 16,949, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 273 positives, bringing the statewide total to 1,214,927.

The county also reported 76 negatives, bringing its total to 71,776. Statewide, there were 4,422 new negatives for a total of 4,827,752.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, four COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, with none in intensive care or on ventilators — all unchanged from Tuesday.

Pennsylvania has 245 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of two since Tuesday, with 48 in intensive care [-7] and 29 on ventilators [-4].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 228.

With 13 new COVID-19 deaths statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,772.

An estimated 97% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.

As of Wednesday morning, 76,656 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 5,202 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
