Centre County Adds 54 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 3,361

Centre County reported 54 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday to bring its total to 12,879, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 3,361 cases, bringing its total to 929,697.

The county also had 135 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 61,097. Across Pennsylvania there were 12,281 new negatives for a total of 3,876,216.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents for the sixth consecutive day, keeping the county’s total at 208.

With 63 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide Pennsylvania’s total is now 24,000.

According to DOH’s hospital preparedness dashboard, which includes Mount Nittany Medical Center and rehabilitation hospitals, 10 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, with none in intensive care or on ventilators.

Across Pennsylvania, 1,785 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 386 in intensive care and 209 on ventilators.

Centre County’s PCR testing positivity rate for Feb. 19 through Feb. 25 was 7.6%, up from 4.5% the previous seven days, according to the updated DOH early warning monitoring dashboard. Pennsylvania’s statewide PCR testing positivity rate was 6.3%, down from 6.5% the previous week.

One new employee case was added to the total for Centre County nursing and personal care homes and two resident cases were removed. A total of 18 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 699 resident cases, 147 employee cases and 158 resident deaths.

An estimated 90% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.

A total of 23,265 people in Centre County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 8,385 who are fully covered with both required doses, according to health department data last updated on Friday.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 800,040 are confirmed and 129,657 are probable. In Centre County, 11,841 are confirmed and 1,038 are probable.
