Centre County Adds 56 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 4,746

Centre County reported 56 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to bring its total to 15,059, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 4,746 positives, bringing the statewide total to 1,059,044.

The county also had 122 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 65,638. Across Pennsylvania, there were 9,002 new negatives for a total of 4,200,316.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents for the 33rd consecutive day, keeping the total at 213.

With 42 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is 25,327.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 23 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of four since the hospital’s last update on Tuesday. The patients range in age from 22 to 89, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Across Pennsylvania 2,451 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized [+26 since Wednesday], including 517 in intensive care [+33] and 245 on ventilators [+14].

Nursing and personal care homes in Centre County reported two new cases among employees. A total of 18 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 723 resident cases, 156 employee cases and 162 resident deaths.

An estimated 90% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation. 

Among Pennsylvania’s cases, 898,992 are confirmed and 160,052 are probable. In Centre County, 13,740 are confirmed and 1,319 are probable.
