Centre County Adds 6 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 560 New Positives

Centre County reported six new COVID-19 cases on Thursday to bring its total to 16,886, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 560 positives, bringing the statewide total to 1,207,495.

DOH removed 28 negative test results from Centre County’s total which now stands at 69,967. Statewide, there were 7,180 new negatives for a total of 4,659,301.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating nine COVID-19 inpatients, unchanged from Wednesday. The patients are between the ages of 56 and 89, a hospital spokesperson said. According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, one COVID-19 patient in Centre County is in intensive care and on a ventilator.

Statewide Pennsylvania has 630 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 20 since Wednesday, with 159 in intensive care [+3] and 110 on ventilators [+1].

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 224.

With 21 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,438.

An estimated 96% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.

As of Thursday morning, 72,279 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 11,539 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in MedicineMount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.

The state-run Regional Vaccination Clinic at the Bryce Jordan Center, which offers vaccinations for ages 18 and older, will be open daily through June 14 for walk-ins only.
