Centre County Adds 63 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 5,650
Centre County reported 63 new COVID-19 on Friday to bring its total to 15,591, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Pennsylvania added 5,650 cases for a statewide total of 1,098,502.
The county also had 95 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 66456. Across Pennsylvania, there were 12,049 new negatives for a total of 4,271,431.
DOH reported two new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, the county’s first COVID-19 deaths in nearly six weeks. To date, the county has had 215 COVID-19 deaths.
With 56 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is 25,622.
Mount Nittany Medical Center is currently treating 27 COVID-19 inpatients between the ages of 28 and 89, according to a hospital spokesperson. Since April 1, the medical center has had an average daily census of 25 COVID inpatients. In both February and March, the average census was 18.
According to DOH’s hospital preparedness dashboard, three Centre County COVID patients are intensive care and one is on a ventilator.
Statewide, 2,657 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized [an increase of 80 since Thursday], including 555 in intensive care [-17] and 262 on ventilators [-3].
Nursing and personal care homes in Centre County reported one new resident death, one new case among residents and one new employee case. A total of 18 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 726 resident cases, 158 employee cases and 164 resident deaths.
An estimated 89% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, per a health department calculation.
As of Friday morning, 41,012 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 20,086 are partially covered.
Among Pennsylvania’s cases, 928,469 are confirmed and 170,033 are probable. In Centre County, 14229 are confirmed and 1,362 are probable.
