Centre County Adds 67 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 5,341

Centre County reported 67 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday to bring its total to 10,302, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 5,341 new positives, bringing the statewide total to 777,186.

The county also had 266 additional negative test results, increasing its total to 54,917. Across Pennsylvania there were 12,563 new negatives for a total of 3,494,279.

The health department reported two new COVID-19 deaths among Centre County residents to bring the total to 173. Coroner Scott Sayers has confirmed 122 deaths in Centre County, ranging in age from 55 to 104.

With 77 new COVID-19 deaths reported over the past two days, Pennsylvania’s total is now 19,467.

Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating 41 COVID-19 inpatients as of Tuesday morning, down five from Monday. The patients range in age from 32 to 101 , according to a hospital spokesperson.

Statewide, 4,593 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 918 in intensive care and 564 on ventilators.

Nursing and personal care homes in Centre County reported three new cases among residents. A total of 16 long-term care facilities in the county have had a combined 644 resident cases, 137 employee cases and 134 resident deaths.

An estimated 76% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation.

A total of 3,481 individuals have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Centre County under phase 1A of the state’s distribution plan, which includes medical personnel and long-term care facility residents and staff. To date, 2,291 have received the first dose, while 1,190 have received both required doses, according to health department data.

Among Pennsylvania’s total cases, 685,545 are confirmed and 91,641 are probable. In Centre County, 9,617 are confirmed and 685 are probable.
