Centre County Adds 7 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 272 New Positives
Centre County reported seven new COVID-19 cases on Friday to bring its total 16,905, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Pennsylvania added 272 new positives, bringing the commonwealth’s total to 1,209,997.
The county reported 49 additional negative test results, bringing its total to 70,386. Statewide, there were 5,774 new negatives for a total of 4,706,030.
Mount Nittany Medical Center is treating seven COVID-19 inpatients, two more than on Thursday. The patients range in age from 58 to 76, according to a hospital spokesperson. None are in intensive care or on ventilators, according to DOH’s hospital preparedness dashboard.
The medical center has had an average daily census of eight COVID positive inpatients to date in June. In May, the average daily COVID-19 inpatient census was 15.
Pennsylvania has 433 COVID-19 inpatients, a decrease of 21 since Thursday, with 98 in intensive care [-15] and 74 on ventilators [-5].
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the county’s total at 225.
With 14 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, Pennsylvania’s total is now 27,560.
An estimated 96% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a health department calculation.
As of Friday morning, 74,534 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 10,899 are partially covered.
Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
